GeoGenetics Section – University of Copenhagen

GeoGenetics Section

Whether the work is done in the laboratories, in Malagasy’s jungle or on the Greenland Inland Ice the keywords for our research are fossil DNA, mass extinction, climate change and human migrations. We eliminate old myths – and produce better explanations on some of the really big questions in the evolution of the human and animal species.

With numerous new papers each year in high profile scientific journals like Science, Nature and PNAS the Centre for GeoGenetics has succeeded in positioning itself in the absolute world elite when it comes to research in fossil DNA, human evolution and the climate’s impact on Arctic environments.

One of the section’s big strengths is the continuous development of new sequencing methods, that the researchers apply on biological materials like hair and tissue.
